Mission Monday

Image uploaded from iOSThis summer we will have a few opportunities to serve our neighbors and church family as a youth group. The first Mission Monday is this Monday, June 11.

We will mow the yards of a few neighbors who Kyle has been working with. We will meet at 8:30 AM at the EPICenter so we can try to beat the heat. We will be mowing and doing other yard work for a couple of hours. We need four to eight Sr Highers to get the jobs done.  We should be done by no later than 11 AM after which, you will be treated to a Sonic lunch or a Slushie if you’re not hungry (so we’ll probably be back around noon)***.

  • What: Mowing / Yard Work / Service
  • When: Monday, June 11 – 8:30 AM – Noon?
  • Where: Meet at the EPICenter
  • Who: Sr. High

***If you need to come late or leave early, we can get you an address of where we are working.

Please sign up here if you can help!

If you have a mower or trimmer you want to bring, we can get the jobs done faster 🙂

“Crazy Love” – Sr. High / “The Story” continues Jr. High

Sr High

This Sunday, the Sr. High will begin studying Francis Chan’s Crazy Love with Mike & LeeAnn. 41gainjwfpl-_ac_us218_There is no other study that has impacted our group as much as this study has. Form groups have used phrases like “Life Changing” and “Incredible” to describe this book and study. You will (hopefully) never view God and your relationship with God in the same way again.

I recommend getting your own copy of the book.  You can get a Kindle copy for $3.99 (hint: you don’t have to have a Kindle to read a Kindle book…you can download the Kindle App on a tablet, phone, or computer – ask Mike if you need help). The reading is easy…that thoughts are compelling. For those of you who have been wanting to go deeper, this is the beginning of that.

***We won’t have time to get everything done in the first class so If you have time before you get to class, watch this short video and see if some of questions Chan asks are questions you have had.  FINALLY, take a few minutes to watch this video and be ready to answer the question…“Is the guy in this video worshipping God or crazy and using God’s name in vain?”

Middle School

Middle Schoolers will continue the study of The Story. Stephen Kernan will take my place while Dave and Whitney continue to help with Storytelling and Small Groups. This week will focus on Queen Esther. You are almost to the New Testament…everything we’ve talked about has been leading up to the coming of God in the Flesh.

Parents

Bible Classes are a vital part of the church’s role in helping to spiritually form our students into the likeness of Jesus. In addition to the spiritual training you engage in with your children on your own, our regular gatherings on Sundays and Wednesdays can be a source of spiritual growth and communal belonging that can help your child find his or her identity in Christ rather than in anything the world has to offer.

PARENT SIGN-UPS – LTC needs your help

LTC depends upon many volunteers. Many coordinators and board members spend many hours to prepare for LTC weekend. With all the major details taken care of before we arrive, there are many jobs left that do not require pre-preparation but are vital nonetheless. Lafayette parents have the potential to make a significant dent in the needs the conference has. Simply taking one or two slots will be a huge help to the coordinators. Please consider signing up as soon as you can so the coordinators can focus on more important matters. CLICK HERE for LTC sign-ups. HELPFUL HINT: as of right now, there are still many easy tasks left to do – I’m sure they will not last. Make sure you click all of the different tabs at the top for different times. (update: I mostly see Lafayette names on there!  Thank you Charles, Karen, Kim, Sherri, Kara, and Rich)

I have copied all of the final schedules and other vital conference information and put them in one PDF – CLICK HERE – to see the final schedules. You can then coordinate your volunteer opportunities.

  • NOTE: If you volunteer as a Door Monitor – you may be assigned on the outside of the door).
  • This schedule and information is specific to Lafayette attendees, there are other events not included on the individual pages.
  • All Lafayette participant info and locations as well as important notes on the firsts two Info Pages have been highlighted.

TRAVEL – As you prepare your travel plans, remember a couple of things:

  • Indianapolis is on Eastern Daylight Time (which means they are an hour ahead of us)
  • The Closing Assembly may include your team, please do not plan on leaving before it is over at 6:15 (5:15 our time).
