Honduras 2017 – Info Meeting

On October 16 there will be a 30 minute informational meeting concerning the Summer 2017 Youth Ministry Honduras Trip. This will take place in the MIDDLE SCHOOL ROOM (located on the back hallway of the Education Wing).  Teens and their parents are encouraged to attend if you are interested in going.


Know Before You Go

  • The tentative dates are July 14-21 or July 15-22 (still working with the airlines to get the best price).
  • The approximate costs is $1400-$1500 – depending on final cost for airline tickets. This should be firm by the time of the meeting.
  • You must be 16 years old as of July 1 in order to travel without a parent.
  • $200 deposit holds your spot – You can give this at anytime now.
    • Once the 24 spots are taken, the deposit becomes non-refundable unless it can be filled by someone on the waiting list.
    • After November 1, the deposit become non-refundable (because of airline commitments)
  • We have a total of 24 spots available – Lafayette teens and their parents will be given preference until October 23. A Lafayette teen may also hold a spot for 1 friend.


Mini-Mission – Breadshed – Update

Hey everyone,

I hope you’re ready for the Mini-Mission (7/8-7/9).

First off there’s been a slight change in our leaving time!!!  We will not leave the building until 1 PM!  If you already had plans to be here at 12 and can’t change them, that’s fine, you can help pack!

We will still plan on being back by  or before 4 PM on Saturday!

Don’t forget your $30

This is a simple trip.

  • We’re hanging out tomorrow afternoon and playing in the creek and eating dinner.
    • Bring a swimsuit and beach towel
    • We are stopping at Walmart for sandwiches, chips, drinks, etc.  (This meal is provided with your costs)
  • We’re sleeping in a hotel!!!
    • No need for pillows, blankets or anything like that.
    • Breakfast is provided at the hotel on Saturday.
  • Saturday
    • We get up and help serve breakfast
    • We pass out food to the community
    • We help clean up
    • We eat Lunch (BRING Money for Lunch)
    • We come home!

That’s about it.

You will be given a shirt to wear for Saturday – everyone has to wear one (it’s included)

We should be back no later than 4 PM (hopefully earlier – we will text on the way home) – PARENTS AND STUDENTS should sign up for the special link on REMIND just for those going on this trip –

July is Mission Month!

In addition to our Mini-Mission for Middle School (it has also been opened up for high school), our High Schoolers (those going into 9th through graduates) will have the opportunity to participate in Mission Mondays!

We will stay local and find ways to help in various ways.  We will work AND have fun – can’t beat that combination!  As we have mentioned in Youth Group and classes, please plan on spending your Mondays in July serving others!

  • July 11 – Meet at the building at 9 AM – return by 5:00.   We will be helping Amber Fisher get her new home cleaned up.  Bring a sack lunch with a drink and some money for a snack on the way home.  SIGN UP HERE

Mini-Mission – Middle School

BreadShedLogoWTaglineWe have a couple of spots left for high school – if you would like to go, please see Mike.

Our Middle Schoolers (just completed 6th-8th) will be going to Poplar Bluff to work with an organization called Bread Shed where will help pass out food for local families who are in need.

We will leave on Friday, July 8 at noon (eat lunch before you go).  We will go to Poplar Bluff, check in a hotel, and spend some time on a local farm. We will play around, swim in the creek, have a campfire dinner (hotdogs and s’mores). Saturday, we will help serve the community by working with Bread Shed.

The cost is $30 and includes – transportation, 1 hotel night, dinner on Friday night, (hotel) breakfast on Saturday, BreadShed T-shirt.

We should return around 4 PM on Saturday, July 9.

Bring:  swimsuit, beach towel, change of clothes, toiletries, sunscreen, bug spray, snacks, $ for lunch on the way home.
