iParent – Parenting a Generation That Thinks “i” Shouldn’t be Capitalized

Chances are if you are a parent of a teen or pre-teen today, your first cell phone came sometime in your late 20s or early 30s. Your first email address had AOL after it. And you might remember what it was like to have to heat leftovers on the stove instead of a microwave.

Every generation of parents has had to deal with subtle changes in culture and the inevitable generation gap. However, there has never been a time in history when culture and technology has changed so rapidly. As parents, we are raising the first generation of children who have never known life without a personal screen of some kind.

Dad’s Camp – CFS

Christian Family Services is inviting all Dad’s to join us for Dad’s Camp September 5-6 at Camp Ne-O-Tez. Dad’s Camp is a chance for fathers to get some concrete information about how kids grow, and how we can be the kind loving father we want to be. Dad’s Camp is not going to be a time in the classroom. It will be a 24-hour period of fun, excitement, instruction, and encouragement. Our guest speaker this year will be Chuck Chapman author of “Not Raising Cain”. The cost is $45 per person which includes the book, food, outdoor activities, and a delicious steak dinner. For additional information please CLICK HERE to see our brochure. Please sign up by calling CFS at 314-968-2216 or go to our website to register.

Room at the Inn

SEPTEMBER 21, 2013

Christians families serving others together is a cornerstone of a healthy family and developing authentic faith in our children.  Lafayette Church has supported Room at the Inn for many years.

The teenEPIC youth  ministry at Lafayette helps twice a year in directly supporting the Room at the Inn ministry.  We are asking families of 6th-12th graders to jump in and help.  We need a variety of helpers!  The most urgent at this time is for a family to host for the evening (this would mean staying all night at the building).  Ideally all the jobs would be parents and teens working together to serve.  If you can help or have any questions concerning the jobs that need to be done, please let us know by contacting Cindy Fields at  Please volunteer as soon as you know you can so we can make sure to have all the slots filled.

For more info about Room at the Inn – CLICK HERE.

Here is a list of the jobs that need to be done.  Names of families will appear after the jobs as they are taken.

  • Host family to spend the night
  • Drive van on Saturday night and Sunday morning (Weaver)
  • Prepare dinner/serve/clean up  (Fields)
  • Set up beds
  • Visit/provide entertainment for our guests
